Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive, hands-on energy practice that supports healing and personal development.

Developed in Japan in the early 1900’s, Reiki was introduced in the United States in the 1930’s by Madame Takata. Increasingly, Reiki is being used in clinical settings from hospitals and hospices to private practice. Scientifically based studies are providing evidence of what Reiki practitioners have always known: Reiki effectively relieves stress, decreases pain, and accelerates healing on mental, emotional, and physical levels.

A Reiki session consists of light touch on specific points of the client’s clothed body.

During a Reiki treatment you will lie fully clothed on a Reiki table covered in a blanket if you choose, listening to soothing music. Your Reiki practitioner will lay her hands lightly on your body in a series of positions, allowing the client to draw Reiki energy through her for your healing needs. If you prefer no touch, hands can be held just above the body. A Reiki treatment generally covers your head, front of body, and back of body in that order. If the flat position is uncomfortable, Reiki can be performed while you sit in a chair.

Although Reiki treatment is unique for each individual, in most instances Reiki feels warm and profoundly relaxing. Other common Reiki sensations experienced are: heat, tingling, floating, sleep, appearance of images in your mind, emotional release, stress reduction, sense of balance, centeredness, and calm. Please know that Reiki can NEVER harm, only help in your individual healing process-however, broken bones do need to be set prior to a reiki session due to accelerated healing.
